Dr. Sandoval was born in El Paso, Texas when his father was stationed at Biggs Air Force Base. His fathers career with the Federal Aviation Administration necessitated several moves throughout the western United States until the family made their permanent home in Sparks, Nevada. Dr. Sandoval attended Bishop Manogue Catholic High School; graduated with honors from the University of Nevada-Reno, and subsequently was accepted by The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. (His mother and brother; Governor Brian Sandoval also graduated from The Ohio State University–his mother with a Ph.D. from the College of Education and his brother with a JD from the College of Law.) In 1986, after graduating with honors, he moved to Minden, Nevada to practice at Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital. In 1999, he became partner and hospital director of Baring Boulevard Veterinary Hospital. As hospital director, Dr. Sandoval continues to see a limited number of patients. Additionally, his special interest is in canine reproduction. He enjoys camaraderie with the Baring Boulevard Veterinary Hospital veterinarians and staff. He and his wife Dottie have five children: Dillon, Chris, Kelly, Tori, and Ryan. His free time is spent in family activities, road cycling, tennis, and audio equipment.
